What?

Our ConnectEd CommUnity understands the importance of partnering Nevada college students with our local K-12 schools. We strive to connect early career college researchers with teachers and students in K-12 schools, to create a research network & community. This community, in turn, helps to expand and unify education at all levels in Nevada. By unleashing research beyond the paywalls of academia, we are rooting it in the foundation of our early childhood education.

How?

Currently, there is little communication between investigators conducting cutting-edge research in our university labs and K-12 students, who are setting the foundation for these general concepts in primary school. ConnectEd CommUnity recruits Nevada universities/college individuals (faculty, postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students) to deliver workshops on various STEAM topics in local K-12 schools. This experience is not only life-changing for our primary education students who are able to learn from, and network with, researchers in higher education, BUT is also revolutionary for our early career college teachers who get experience teaching diverse populations in SES-variable communities.

Why?

By organizing these STEAM events, we inspire to strengthen the joint participation of primary and higher education in open access and sharing of knowledge, because we believe education should be free and open to everyone.
