Peer Review & Written Articles

Frontiers for Young Minds Journal journal provides a unique opportunity for K–12 students, educators, and early-career researchers to engage in the scientific publication process by contributing to the development of youth-accessible articles and participating in the peer review of neuroscience manuscripts written specifically for younger audiences.

Peer Review

Our K–12 peer review process is designed to be flexible and can be adapted to suit the needs of individual students or classroom settings. To inquire about current article availability, please contact us at westudybrains@gmail.com. You may also subscribe below to receive updates and opportunities.

Step 1

We provide a neuroscience-focused article accompanied by a structured set of guiding questions to support the review process.

Step 2

The reading and review process is flexible and can be tailored to meet individual or classroom needs. Educators may choose to conduct the activity independently or schedule a collaborative session for reading and discussion.

Step 3

We conduct either a Zoom or in-person interview to gather your feedback on the article and to clarify any challenging concepts, ensuring the content is both accurate and accessible for young readers.

FfYM Journal:

Each article submitted to Frontiers for Young Minds must be reviewed and approved by our team of Young Reviewers before publication. These reviewers, typically between the ages of 8 and 15, collaborate with a Science Mentor to provide constructive feedback to authors, ensuring the content is both engaging and accessible for younger audiences. Only after incorporating this feedback are articles finalized and made available online.
